The Painter
1498–1578 · Croatian · High Renaissance
Giulio Clovio (1498–1578) was a Croatian painter whose work has passed into the public domain. That is what lets this studio reproduce it — any of the paintings listed below can be painted by hand, in oils on linen canvas.
Associated with High Renaissance.
Renaissance oil is a slow medium worked in transparent layers, each left to cure before the next. Form is modelled by accumulation rather than drawn, so the work cannot be hurried without showing.
