Description

This reproduction follows “"Zal Consults the Magi", Folio 73v from the Shahnama (Book of Kings) of Shah Tahmasp”, dated ca. 1530–35 and held by Metropolitan Museum of Art. The source credits the maker as Painting attributed to Sultan Muhammad.

In this Safavid illustration the epic hero consults wise magi about marrying Rudaba. The painting is attributed to Sultan Muhammad, assisted by Abd al-Aziz; Ferdowsi is the author of the poem, not its painter.

Choose an art print or an oil interpretation on canvas, then select your size and finish. The digitized composition keeps its proportions; the original object’s measurements, where known, do not limit the reproduction sizes offered.

The original object’s medium is recorded below using the museum’s terminology. A manuscript, drawing or print reproduced on canvas is an interpretation of that document; its original paper, silk, pigments and gilding are not the materials of the reproduction.

What is the difference between a print and an oil painting?

A print is a printed reproduction. An oil painting is painted by hand in oils. Check the options on this product page before choosing your technique.

How do I choose the size?

Check the dimensions listed on this product page and choose the size that suits your space. Available sizes depend on the artwork.

Which finishes are available?

Three finishes are available: rolled, stretched or framed. Supplements are shown in the configurator; the price depends on your chosen technique, size and finish.

How long does an oil painting take?

A hand-painted oil painting takes 10–20 days to produce. This is the painting time, not a delivery estimate, and does not apply to prints.

What are the shipping cost and return window?

Shipping is free worldwide, with no minimum order. The return window is 30 days.
