Salvator Rosa

1615–1673 · Italian · Baroque

Salvator Rosa (1615–1673) was an Italian painter whose work has passed into the public domain. That is what lets this studio reproduce it — any of the paintings listed below can be painted by hand, in oils on linen canvas.

Reproducing this painter

Baroque painting is built from the dark end forward: a deep ground, then the lit passages placed into it, then glazes to keep the shadows luminous rather than flat. Get the shadows wrong and the drama goes with them.
