The Painter

Fra Angelico

1390–1455 · Florentine · Early Renaissance, Italian Renaissance

Fra Angelico (1390–1455) was a Florentine painter whose work has passed into the public domain. That is what lets this studio reproduce it — any of the paintings listed below can be painted by hand, in oils on linen canvas.

Associated with Early Renaissance, Italian Renaissance.

Reproducing this painter

Renaissance oil is a slow medium worked in transparent layers, each left to cure before the next. Form is modelled by accumulation rather than drawn, so the work cannot be hurried without showing.
