The Painter
1400–1450 · Early Netherlandish painting
André d’Ypres (1400–1450) was a painter whose work has passed into the public domain. That is what lets this studio reproduce it — any of the paintings listed below can be painted by hand, in oils on linen canvas.
Associated with Early Netherlandish painting.
The early Netherlandish masters worked in oil on panel with glazes so fine that the ground still shows through, which is why the colours read as lit from within. Everything is in focus at once, and the copy has to hold that everywhere.
